KalSarpa Yoga- One of the Most Dreaded Yogas- A MYTH or A FACT (Part – 1)

In the Vedic texts, snakes, SARPA’s or the Nagas have a special place of mention.

Naga Panchami is celebrated with reverence and sighting snakes on these days is considered auspicious. Lord Shiva undertook to drink the poison hallahal that came out of the Samudra Manthan.

A person who is facing problems relating to Rahu Ketu should worship Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva has the capacity and the capability to control the snakes and by His Divine Grace the person gets rid of the troubles created by these two planets.

Even Lord Vishnu has a very strong connect with the snakes or the sarpas.

In his birth as Lord Krishna it was Sheshnag who accompanied him and helped him cross the Yamuna on that tumultuous night of his birth.

In Rama avatar Sheshnag helped Lord Vishnu by taking the form of his younger brother Laxman and being beside him throughout in that life time.

Manasa Devi who is said to be the daughter of Shiva and Parvati is said to be the Goddess of the sarpas. And in Rajasthan Goga ji Peer is said to be Devata of the sarpas.

RAHU and KETU do not have a body yet along with the 7 planets they are also given a place in the planetary system.

The seven days of the week are named after the planets but Rahu and Ketu have no days assigned to them. They are considered to be chaya grahas. That is why their effects are also subtle. Rahu behaves like Shani and Ketu like Mars. In the Kundali Rahu and Ketu are always at 180 degrees with each other.

Rahu and Ketu are two parts of the same being.  In astrology, Rahu and Ketu are related to the Sarpas. Rahu is said to be the head of the Sarpa and Ketu the tail of it. Rahu is considered the head and Ketu its tail.

Wherever Rahu sits, that house, the lord of that house, any planet posted there or the house that it aspects those houses or the planets in it, it effects that house or planet with the thought process.

Wherever Ketu sits, that Sign or and Lord works as one effecting Ketu.

As Ketu acts like Mars, it causes destruction similar to Mars. In its mahadasa and antardasa, it causes the person to lose their mind and also causes loss of happiness and wealth.

Rahu in turn in its mahadasa creates obstacles.

Things to note are that Rahu works through the planets and Ketu works according to the planet. That is, Rahu will show its effect of expansion through expanding the Karakas of the planet and Ketu will work as the planet.

If the planet which is with Rahu has a lower degree than Rahu then Rahu has an upper hand over that planet where as if the degree of that planet is more than Rahu, then that planet has more effect and Rahu may lose its power. In such a case the effect of Kalsarpa yog also diminishes. Kalsarpa yog is formed from Rahu to Ketu and vice versa. When all the planets in a Kundali are on one side of Rahu Ketu and only the Lagna on the other side then such a combination of planet is called the Kalsarpa yog. (Lagna can also fall in the orbit of Rahu and Ketu)

A point to be noted is that the yog formed from Rahu to Ketu is the one that is most effective. The one formed from Ketu to Rahu is not so effective.

Technically, Rahu and a Ketu are always at 180* to each other and in opposition. When other planets are positioned between Rahu and Ketu they come in the area of influence of these two planets. It is then very difficult not to be affected by the strong currents of these two planets. Rahu and Ketu always move in the retrograde motion. There are two instances to arcs that are formed in this case.

The left and right Arc. the left side of Rahu is called the Kala that is the reason the yog that is formed from Rahu to Ketu is called the Kalsarpa Yog and falls in the category of Kalsarpa Yog.

Many stalwarts do not consider the yoga that is from Ketu to Rahu is Kalsarp yoga.

One thing is for certain Kalsarpa Yog is formed in the chart due to some past life dosha or the pitra dosha

In this instant we can see that the Kalsarp yoga has its effect right from the birth

In the other instant in this instant we can see that the effect of Rahu on the planets will be in transit hence the one which was shown earlier is more effective.

When we are analysing a chart and find Kalsarpa yoga in it, we have to be extremely careful.

There are a number of points that need to be taken into account before deciding that the Kalsarpa yoga does exist in the chart, we might lose out not just on our directions but also, we might render the person who has come to seek answers from us weak.

The first point to be noted is from which house to which house does this yoga exists, that is the house is between which all the planets and Rahu-Ketu are situated.

The position of the planets in those two houses needs to be ascertained.

If Rahu is situated with any other planet then it needs to be seen if the planet has more power than Rahu or whether it is Rahu who has more power than that planet.

In the first case not only does Rahu become weak but because of certain factors, there can also be a yoga bhanga.

Due to difference in the longitude of the planets and very minorly so, some planets can come out of the grip of Rahu and Ketu there by the Kalsarpa Yoga may simply not exist.

So, we need to be very careful when we establish Kalsarpa yoga in any chart.

One thing that deserves mention here is that Kalsarpa yoga is not always troublesome for sometime it gives Rajyog too.

Sometimes not only does it make the person very famous it also gave the person a lot of wealth luxury name and also fame.

Combination which causes imbalance in the Natal Chart

With Kalsarpa Yoga the chart looks as if all the things have been put on one side of the balance and the other side of the balance had is empty or there is nothing to it.

It is not that only bad results can be seen from the Kalsarp yoga. Saying this would not be true. Many a times Rajyog is also seen from this yoga.

So, to speak so ill of the Kalsarpa yoga is not right.

Some planets in the chart may give good results then sometimes the bad effect of which yoga can be mitigated.

Sometimes when we take the chart of some renowned people and come across this yoga in birth chart we see that they have attained heights even after having this this yoga.  However, one thing is certain that there must be some area of their life which is unfulfilled.

There is no reason to be afraid of the phrase Kalsarpa Yoga. Many a times in the chart, there are very many auspicious yogas like the Panch mahapurusha yoga, Budhaadhi yoga etc. which can render this yoga ineffective or it can mitigate some of the negative effects of this yoga.

When this Yog is seen in the chart of a person, then it should be taken into account that there is a chance or a huge possibility of this Yoga to present in the chart of another family member and all the family members will affected in some way or the other by this Yoga in the person’s chart.

This dosha is also known as Pitridosh yoga by many.
